Bless Me Father, For I Have Kids

In honor of Mother’s Day I want to share with you Susie Lloyd’s new book Bless Me, Father, For I Have Kids. A Catholic, home-schooling, mother of seven, Susie humorously writes about her family. If you are a fan of Mary Beth Hicks, you will laugh along with Susie as soon as you adjust to her family situation and writer voice.

Whether it’s her way of addressing the arrival of “the boy” after six daughters, attempting to grasp her daughter’s theory on how driving should work, or seeing the world through the eyes of a three-year old who is no longer the youngest, you can’t help but smile and break out an occasional laugh.

I laughed at her self-described organizational skills (sounds vaguely familiar…) and creative imaginary version of Holywood Squares (where the squares are occupied by various Saints). Susie has a dry wit mixed with a tinge of sarcasm that works well throughout her tales.

Even if you don’t homeschool seven children and attend a church where your husband insists that you and each daughter will wear a doily, sunglasses, or lace curtain as your head covering, you will definitely identify with something in Susie Lloyd’s newest addition to The Catholic Company’s available book list.

But if you have more than four children and homeschool …. you don’t want to miss this one!
