About Us

Meet Shelly & Lisa

Lisa and Shelly in Star Wars Shirts

Thanks for dropping by! We’re just two sisters from Texas who started writing because we had a lot to say and we needed somewhere to say it. (Even when our mom was the only one who regularly read it.)

As cradle Catholics, we were raised knowing God loves us and we faithfully received our sacraments. However, it wasn’t until we became mothers, raising our children in the Catholic church, that we both experienced a yearning to return more fully to our faith. Because we take turns leading – and sometimes pushing – each other, we decided to share our personal journey with our family and others.

Our Spirit of Love.

We were raised to respect authority, and to reason and think for ourselves. Throughout our lives we were taught to be independent, to persevere during hard times. As grown women with families we respect life, self-discipline, and personal responsibility.

We believe that God gives us the ability to do what He asks of us. We believe in His promises.

Our Spirit of Power.

So far–and please don’t think we’ve figured it all out–we’ve learned that God shows up everywhere in our lives, even when we least expect it. We’ve learned that being open to Him strengthens us for when times get tough.

By participating in faith-based communities–both online and in real-life–we recognize it’s important to love and support each other no matter where we are on our personal journeys.

We get it. Life is Messy. Life is Hard.

It’s a struggle trying to be holy in the everyday world, balancing work and family, parenting young adults, teens, tweens, and toddlers, loving and supporting our husbands, and volunteering in our parish.

We don’t have all the answers, but we’re always striving to learn more as we embrace our identity as sisters, Catholics, moms, and wives. And we’ve been known to enjoy an occasional Friday Night Margarita.

If you’re like us, you too are a disciple on a journey seeking Christ, and you have a long way to go. Let’s walk together to build a life on a foundation of faith.

One of sound mind and spirit.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power,
and of love, and of a sound mind.

– 2 Timothy 1:7
