Presenting Our New Blog Design!

Of Sound Mind and Spirit is proud to unveil our new blog design!

When Lisa and I started Of Sound Mind in Spirit in 2009 we were both writing personal family blogs on Blogger, so when we started writing about faith and family together we continued using that platform.

As the years passed we made minor updates and design changes, always keeping it comfortable, but we often talked about making a more professional move to WordPress. Today we’re thrilled to unveil our new blog design!

Check out these Highlights

So what’s new? You’ll notice a more sleek, clean home page design. When our designer suggested a new banner image, we enjoyed setting up a mini-photo session in Lisa’s kitchen. Coffee cup or wine glass? (Sadly, the plastic margarita glasses did not survive the “Great Kitchen Cabinet Purge” of 2020.)

Sisters having fun during a photo shoot.

As sisters, we decided to share some photos of us through the years on the About Us page. Choosing these images brought back many memories and it was a real struggle to narrow it down to only a few. The About Us page also now offers an opportunity to Meet Shelly or Meet Lisa individually. As you browse around our new blog design, you can more easily see who wrote a particular story by looking at the sidebar. Clicking our name brings you to more posts written by that individual.

If you often come here via our Pinterest, Facebook, or Instagram accounts, never miss a new post by signing up to subscribe by email. There’s also a new search bar in the blog so you can easily find old posts or topics.

Let us know what you think! Contact us via our webform or engage with us via Instagram or Facebook comments or direct messages.

Collaborative Project

Our new blog design is a collaborative product with The Arend Sandbox, Allison Arend, LLC.

An experienced web designer, Allison (Ali) caters to small businesses, small non-profits, home-based businesses, bloggers, and authors. She also offers maintenance plans for new and existing websites and provides a free consultation.

In our initial call, Ali carefully explained the process and what information she needed from us. You can imagine how challenging it might be to work with two sisters with different tastes and ideas. But Ali was able to discern what was important to each of us and delivered a beautiful new blog design. She worked with us at every step, maintained the timeline, communicated well, and never said a frustrated word if we said, “….that’s great, but could you change this… or that… or maybe swap out the colors?”

If you’re looking for a new blog design, we highly recommend contacting Allison Arend!
